Fortuna brewery sits right up against the dunes on the northernmost end of the isle of Vlieland.
To the eye the building mimics its surroundings, appearing like a dune packaged in greying sustainable wood cladding. Its interior boasts a combination of bare-wood panelled walls and ceilings, offering a warm contrast to the cold stainless steel of the brewery’s inner workings. The built-in brewery installation is fully reliant on solar power.
Working alongside the architect, Koos Klapwijk’s lead in this project has been key in the choices made on the materials used and the building’s main visual charcateristics.
Koos Klapwijk is Director of Operations at Treetek. His career at Klapwijk Houtbouw has seen him acquire more than twenty years worth of expertise in smart construction using wood and complex prefab construction.
